FROLICON 2026 at the Atlanta Courtland Grand

Hello lovelies,
We have a significant announcement to make today, and unfortunately, it’s not a good one.

Last month, a guest who made some questionable choices set a fire in one of the hotel rooms in the South Tower. The sprinkler system did its job, but the resulting water damage took about 270 hotel rooms and a few of the small convention rooms in the South Tower out of commission for the foreseeable future.


What does this mean for you?
Starting tomorrow, the hotel will begin randomly selecting reservations to transfer from the Courtland Grand to the Hilton Atlanta, located one block away. If your reservation is selected, you’ll get an email directly from the hotel letting you know. Keep an eye on your inbox.

The Hilton is a great property that many of you already know quite well. We trust that guests transferred here are in good hands.


So how do we make the best of this?
We can’t thank you enough for all the love and support you’ve given us over the years, and now we need it even more. This convention has never really been about the building. It’s about the people in it. Whether you end up at the Courtland Frand or the Hilton, you’re still home.

Find your people and look out for each other, especially any new attendees who are experiencing Frolicon for the first time. This may make your Frolicon experience a bit “different” than you expected it to be, but we’re all still going to have a great time with a little bit of planning and patience.

Please DO NOT call the hotel. You will likely reach someone who has no idea about the situation (corporate, front desk, etc) and cause unnecessary confusion.

–  How do you book rooms in the host hotel for Frolicon? There is one way and one way ONLY! Using the link we will be posting on August 4, 2026 at 12:00pmEST.

–  Will the hotel sell out? Probably. Last year was our first year selling out of the rooms that were initially released. I can’t say for sure but my guess is that will happen again. However….
Didn’t get a room at the host hotel? No worries, our overflow hotel is available just 1 block away! The Atlanta Hilton hotel is the official Overflow hotel for Frolicon 2026.

–  The hotel is releasing MORE rooms this time than last year! So there are more to go around.

–  The hotel is also releasing more shoulder date rooms for us! Hopefully that means less trouble booking your rooms on the Wednesday before and Sunday after con!

If for some reason you still have issues booking your room on a shoulder date DONT PANIC. Book the room type that you want for whatever dates are available. We’ll get the hotel to add those shoulder dates for you.

DO NOT book shoulder dates via the regular hotel website and DEFINITELY DO NOT book via a 3rd party site like Hotels dot com or Expedia. There is nothing we can do to help if you do. The hotel has very little control or access to reservations made by 3rd party sites.

–  Rooms over the Frolly weekend have a 3 night minimum.

–  Deposits equal to 1 night’s stay will be taken at some point…not sure when. I’ll check in with the hotel about that but generally it happens a few weeks before the con.

–  Depending on the type of card you use to hold your reso you may see more than a single night’s deposit to hold your room. This is generally because you are using a debit card for your booking. My advice is that if at all possible use a CREDIT card and not a debit card to make your reservation.

–  MAKE SURE THE CARD YOU ARE USING TO SECURE YOUR RESERVATION IS NOT EXPIRING BETWEEN NOW AND THE CONVENTION. If that is your only option, make your reservation and we’ll help you get your payment method updated but you MUST do this before your card expires. Computer systems don’t like expired cards. You may lose your reservation.

What happens if you don’t get a room at the host hotel?

First, don’t panic. You’ve got lots of options.

  • –  Keep checking the link. When people cancel their rooms (it happens more than you think) those rooms become available on the booking link.
  • –  Look for Room Share/Transfer threads on the 2nd Unofficial Frolicon Fan Page or our Fetlife page.
  • –  Frolicon will release a few more rooms closer to the con once the convention’s rooms are allocated (we gotta sleep somewhere 🤷).
  • –  We are working on a possible official over-flow hotel for this year. If that becomes a reality we’ll make sure everyone knows about it ASAP!

How much longer will Frolicon be at the Courtland Grand?

For the foreseeable future. Events this size make their contracts YEARS in advance to ensure the space isn’t shared with other groups.

And while the hotel has had some trouble the last few years with staffing and management turnover they have been our home and our family for a very long time. We don’t throw out our family when they are trying oh so hard to get back to good. And I promise. They are.
